These are called slurs for a reason, so nobody should use them in polite company.

Though America has the most capable show of force compared to any other country (or dare I say, of all other countries combined), it also overwhelms in logistics.

I’m Puerto Rican.

That should be very obvious.

Puerto Ricans will PROUDLY let you know where we’re from and why our Island is a beautiful place deserving of your attention and your respect. It’s fucking gorgeous, the food is amazing, as I have been told by multiple creepy older men when I was an overly developed 11-year-old, the people are beautiful.

However, there is something that gets’ lost in the translation. Something that both sides of the political spectrum conveniently and annoyingly forget.

Puerto Ricans are US citizens. We have been US citizens since the end of the Spanish American War.

I am unsure why people forget this, and it frustrates me each time. The media and some online discourse almost insidiously and conveniently frame the narrative by how they talk about us.

Decided to throw the start of ‘Taming Malice’ into the ring for Novel Beginnings! I have already 2700 words with finishing up the next episode of Taming Malice. I think once I have five chapters up, it will be sent off to Novel Beginnings above, since it should be about the necessary 4500 to 5000 words.

I doubt I will win anything, but hey, you miss 100% of the shots you don’t shoot, so why not? I’m also putting up regular episodes of the series on Substack, so any little attention on it helps.

I’m also going to be a part of several anthologies being hosted by other fantastic author friends! I will be sharing my anthology entries as I write them into the ‘Letters Between Sex and Violence’ short stories.

It has been a while since I have revisited my journal/memoir/whatever that I call ‘The Mountain’. Honestly, a lot has been on my mind, which I am sure has been the case for everyone else as well. The issue is that I have kept all those in my head for too long, where before I would be sharing these out to people, at least on Kindle Vella.

Which died.

Then I tried Radish.

That died too.

I did Ream too, but I was burnt out on having so many platforms. So I forced myself to limit to the Metaverse (Facebook, Instagram, Threads) and here.

But I still felt overwhelmed.

So I kinda just didn’t write my thoughts. Which also meant I didn’t write much at all. Last year year sucked in terms of me writing, whether my climb up The Mountain or my fictional horror smut. Which was unfortunate, because once again, my head filling up with too much shit and no where to release it. I didn’t feel comfortable expressing myself while working in a company that…well as more time went by, clearly did not mesh while with me.

People like to think that art comes from pain and pressure, from tribulations and stress.

Lemme tell you this: I never want to create when I am admist tribulations. I am stifled when I am in a position of vulnerability and instability. Being without a job in THIS economy, when I am also the breadwinner and have a child…well…

That was very fucking boiling pot awful.

So I didn’t write and all my thoughts has no where to go but fester.

Now that things are finally settled job wise and the new year has began with major shit storms that are combining into one SUPER MEGA SHIT STORM WHAT THE HELL— I have decided to write about things again.

The past, plans for the future, rants and rambles about whatever I want and how I come to those inane conclusions, all that jazz.

I will also be posting older episodes that I have in relation to ‘The Mountain’ because I am not sure if anyone else has read them beyond the old Vella crowd. Thus might as well share them. It’s not really meant to be in any order anyways.

Sorry for being late (again)! I have been getting ready for my first day at my new job! Hurray! It’s a lot like getting ready for school but with naive optimism replaced with relief and a slight bit of dread that comes with being an adult.

It was bad; apparently this flu was notorious for being particularly bad and resilient against vaccines. The symptoms lasted for weeks.

The worst part was…being unable to fully enjoy homemade from scratch chocolate cake with homemade strawberry jam. It smelled so good and I had one slice…

However, with the new year comes improved…or at least recovered health and new hope. This is overdue…but happy new year. More stuff is coming my way and yours!
